Yesterday was the first day of the new Spring Semester and the kids had a great time in the gorgeous weather!

The kids had their option to be in their choice of three groups: field day, dinosaur island and anime group! The groups were all very creative and well thought out, thanks to our wonderful new interns, and everyone seemed to be really excited about their group choices!

This was an amazing day for the field day group because of this unexpected January weather! The sun was shining and so were their bowling skills. Team Red took on Team Blue in basketball-bottle bowling, and then an egg race which was just as fun to watch as it was to play! Bubbles and hopscotch followed, and just hanging out in the sunshine and having a carefree moment in life's craziness, however brief, was so awesome!

The anime group was not surprisingly a huge success as well. The kids drew their own manga and anime characters, while watching a wonderful Miyazaki film - "Kiki's Delivery Service". This group was a little smaller, and allowed for some really nice conversations and socializing between the kids and the interns.

Dinosaur Island group was so full of energy and excitement! They colored their own T-Rex masks, which turned out really neat as they all made them very different and their personalities really shined through, which was cool to see! After dino-tag, the part that seemed to excite them the most was the volcanoes!!! (Interns were equally excited...) Each child got their own cup and put vinegar and their choice of color in, and waited for their turn for baking soda. It was a BLAST!

This was a great beautiful day and everyone was smiling non-stop the entire time! Parents, let us know if you have any feedback. And don't forget to sign up for the Late Spring Session starting on March 20th! You can sign up at our website (www.dragonflyforest.org)
